A perspective from ME. I don 't want to see the forest clear-cut to make paper for packaging. Industrial forestry is not green, it's as extractive as any other form of mining.

There will always be a certain amount of medical plastic waste, because it's necessary to maintain health and safety, but other things besides plastics can be used to ship food products. Recyclable things can be used besides plastics as well.

Medical waste is an entirely different subject than packaging. But, for discussions sake, it may be more profitable to throw away things than clean and reuse, that doesn't mean it's safer.
