As a stepmom who never had kids before, one of the highlights of my life has been reading with my stepson.

We're almost done with Fellowship of the Ring. My dad and I read that when I was a kid. Circle of life!

What book do you remember reading to your children?

Pro tip: never read "Bambi"" or "Where the Red Fern Grows" to a child in the pediatrician's waiting room (especially if pregnant). Full-on ugly crying is better in other settings.

Oh, my! I can only imagine. As a kid, I sobbed to those!

I can’t remember half of them. We used to read every night after dinner. My hsbd would “read” the paper as I read to the kids. 1 night when reading Wait till Helen Comes, I had a really sore throat and told my kids I wasn’t reading that night. My husband responded. “Wait you’re not reading!” 😂

Being the designated reader is both an honor and a duty 🙃

‘The Secret Garden,’
read in nightly installments
by my Mother,
read by me to my children
the same way.
