*The TN proclamation includes 8 intro clauses celebrating “the cause of Southern liberty," nothing of slavery. Rather, it declares that Confederates conducted “a 4-yr heroic struggle for states’ rights, individual freedom, local government control, & a determined struggle for deeply held beliefs"

This is horrendous. Rewritten history does an INJUSTICE to everyone, but especially the youth of this country.

States’ rights to own slaves, individual freedom for white men, local government control to allow slavery, & a determined struggle for deeply held beliefs that some people (white men) are born better than others and have inherent Rights others (non-white, non male, non-rich) don't."

Intentionally left out. They’re trying to rewrite history to say the States just wanted to leave the union, while completely ignoring why they wanted to leave the union. It was slavery.

That doesn't shock me...the first MLK Day after being elected Bill Lee tweeted about changing the holiday back to Robert E Lee birthday...then quickly deleted it...so nothing surprises me.

Point well taken. TN was the last state to join the confederacy & it was divided East (no) to West (yes). The West needed enslaved people, the East, not so much. TN was represented in Montgomery confederation meetings & went along with "protecting the right to own slaves". There is no dodging it.
