Anybody else feeling like this era has Reagan vibes? Like the 80s are somehow rising up all around us like zombies. It was not a cool time, if you're too young to know! We wore those bright colors to cheer us up because it was a TERRIBLE time with open fascist gangs beating people up.

The 80s were rubbish: Reagan ,Thatcher, and Mulroney.
The only thing about them was, if you came of age in the 70s, then it was a relief that now at least people were fighting back, which is also the vibe I am getting now.
The Aughts were a hellscape. This is better.

OK but how does the Nineties (X-Files Culture) figure into this model?

I remember the 60s and 70s as a time of expansion and power becoming more equally shared, while the 80s was all about closing down and shutting people out of power. It was a time of retaliation by those who had always wielded power and didn't want to share.

Yes that's what I remember too. 60s was an era of possibility, 70s the turmoil started strikes, energy shock, massive inflation, then Thatcher in '79. I left at that point..she wanted to close down opposition, other govts. have continued her work (neither side really welcomes scrutiny)

Seriously! I've been thinking this for the last few years. Especially this year with the national movement against the LGBTQ community and their supporters.

We can see them working themselves up to start doing "queerbashing" again. It's scary.
