Wishing you a happy #ArborDay from the Angel Oak tree. The Angel Oak is estimated to be between 400 and 500 years old, 66 feet tall, and produces over 17,000 square feet of shade.

Angel Oak is incredibly awesome, truly! Visited it about 10 years ago on a visit to my sister who lives in SC (I'm CA). Magical and mystical, everyone there during our visit spoke in hushed tones, wandered and stared in hushed reverence. Thanks for the reminder of a lovely memory 🌳

That's a very sweet memory. Maybe plan on coming back in a few years. The Lowcountry Land Trust is building the Angel Oak preserve to surround and further protect the tree (after saving it from big developers in 2014). It should be pretty great!

Gorgeous! I had to Google that one since I've never heard of a shagbark hickory before. Very cool.

It really is beautiful, isn't it? When I tell folks that I'm taking them to see an oak tree they give me a weird look. Once they see the tree though, they get it. 🥰
