King Charles III’s main home of Clarence House is ‘just’ 2,646 m2, the second smallest of any head of state

To be accurate, Buckingham Palace (77,000 m2) is the official residence of the UK monarch. He chose Clarence House as his primary London residence as Prince of Wales and continues to reside there while BP undergoes renovation. He may never move into BP as the renovation is planned to take 10 years.

The King uses Buckingham Palace for official business but does not reside at the Palace. Clarence House is the King's official London residence. The Crown owns both, whereas the King owns Balmoral Castle (inherited from Queen Elizabeth) and Sandringham House as well as others.

I think we're parsing minutia. BP is considered the official residence of any UK monarch. He remains at CH as a preference while BP undergoes a 10 yr reno. In comparing official residences of heads of state, BP is the more accurate comparison regardless of where he's currently choosing to sleep.

But admittedly, official monarchy residences have changed over the years and CH may become the new official residence for future monarchs. Only time will tell.
