The salary taken by members of congress is $174,000 per year.

535 members of congress. So we pay a total of $93,090,000 a year for them to have jobs.

Seems like that's a good place to start cutting some spending 🤷🏼‍♀️

I hear you but, you’d hurt them far more if we got rid of all the dark money. Their salary is a drop in the bucket compared to the access fees they collect. End Citizens United, the filibuster, etc.

That's a great idea! How do we make that happen?

Sean Duffy (Wi-7) retired because he "couldn't live on the Congressional salary". Median in the 7th is $56K.
Of course he has 9 kids to support.

The congressional salary is the same for every congressman. There is no difference from district to district. And then there are the retirement benefits.

uh no. that would mean even more pay-to-play nonsense and only the rich could run.

I don't believe in getting rid of their salaries. But before they decide to cut benefits for anyone else, they should get a pay cut. Most people don't make anywhere close to what they make.
