The 1988 strike lasted 153 days, but the Tonight Show went back on the air after just 4 weeks, after negotiating its own WGA agreement. Carson took care of his staff. We all (except the writers of course) reported to work & received our salaries, even though we were dark. #WGAStrong /1

I had a weird situation as a new WGA member (having sold a sitcom script the previous year). I did not write for the show, so I was allowed to go into the office. I would picket in the morning (& catch up w/our writers) before reporting to work. /2

I ultimately did not have what it takes to be a professional TV writer, but am so proud to have once been a member of the organization. It is a shame they have to do this again. #WGAStrong
