You know, if the press actually did investigative journalism like they used to, we wouldn’t have to continue finding things out after the fact. That these politicians are lying to the extreme to be elected.

More journalism.

Less nonsense for clicks

Media has been purchased by people with an agenda. They know if you control the message you control the population. That is why I am glad there is such diversity in choice now. It also explains why the Saudis gave billions to Musk to “sink” twitter! The people were able to speak directly in spaces

I have long lived by the philosophy, "If nobody gets fired they were doing their job." Whether it's cops beating people or journalists promoting lies, if nobody gets fired then they were doing their job, it's just that their job wasn't what one might think it ought to be.

We have news, to quote Clive Irving, that is "devoid of journalism". It's #1 priority is profit, not informing the people.

There's a lot of investigative journalism, good stuff out there (Mother Jones, ProPublica, The American Prospect and more), but the press as a whole has been whittled down to a few, big survivors and news channels beholden to corporate money.

Yes. Too bad.. We need to provide journalists more $upport. We need better micropayment systems to do so.

How about bringing back the Fairness Doctrine? If you have an FCC license, you have to present both sides of an argument.

Miss newspapers - and their investigative reporters and I-teams - yet? #MissMyPaper

And I have to say, it feels strange to call it “the press” when they really don’t use presses in the news biz anymore.

That would require the media to fund a lot more investigative journalism, which they are reluctant to do in an era where outrageous political behavior gives them a fantastic show to report at almost no cost.
A local newspaper had a lot of facts on Santos, but that reporting gained no traction.

Corporate owned and ran infotainment

Never investigate or report

Only package and sell to an ideology/perspective that marketing says is most profitable

If the press wasn't owned by right-wing hedge fund managers who fired a huge chunk of their investigative journalists and stole the earnings of the journalists left standing, we'd be better informed.

Journalism is a damn joke! They care more about Britney Spears, the K family and non existent poll numbers. Thank God for independent journalists. That’s why I joined twitter until that no polar bigot got hold of of it.

The media must fight for clicks rather than getting news so now when it is too late a real news story finds its way out

I've gotten to question that narrative myself. What I've seen of journalism's history, investigating news has proven exception rather than rule. Then or now, the first goal of major outlets is profit. Look no further than William Randolph Hearst or Joseph Pulitzer for proof.
