Harry found...a rhinoceros horn in the garden? Seriously. What is this? It's definitely a horn, or tusk, or antler of some kind. He wanted to take it to his messy treat towel and gnaw on it. I didn't let him. I swapped it out for a frozen marrow bone. I am just baffled about what this could be.

Cow horn? Unless you live in the African subcontinent…

It could be a fossil…… make sure you can get it back. Sends pics to the Smithsonian and tell them where you found it. I am excited about the possibilities!

Unfortunately, you should curb Your enthusiasm. I'm about to share a spout revealing the answer. It's not super sexy.

Call your local dept of natural resources or wildlife. Even contact a university. Somebody will want to test it. Just make sure you can get it back.

Do you live near a college or university? If so, I'd advise contacting someone there in the archeology or geology department. If not, perhaps a science teacher at the local high school.
