First Common Swift (M) of the year in my garden last night. As I understand it, among the Lepidoptera the group to which this species belongs sits somewhere on the family tree between the primitive "micro" moths (which includes the butterflies) and the more recent "macro" moths.

Hah, they are legs, yes. It's playing dead. It flew off seconds later.
