A lack of universal healthcare a lack of affordable housing, authoritarian policing, and systemic racism is my answer to how could this happen. I am super disappointed that no one intervened but I started riding the NYC subway from East New York into the city when I was 11, I am not surprised.

are being made the scapegoats for the fact that our legislatures on the state and local levels have failed us in providing healthcare and housing for the most vulnerable in our society. We look at Jordan Neely in his psychosis and we despise him for being poor and ill. We see ourselves as above him.
