Two decades ago, when I was a Suffolk County legislator on Long Island, NY, I introduced gun safety legislation — a Child Access Prevention bill — that ended up failing by one vote.

I’ll never forget what the head of the local NRA affiliate told me during the legislative debate. He coldly said,

“I’d rather let some children die than do anything that would jeopardize my Second Amendment rights.”

Sadly, nothing has changed in 20 years. If anything, the NRA has become even more extreme.

Well seems we've over reached the "some" level by a lot. Mr. NRA head: its time you give up some of your toys so we don't lose anymore of our kids, moms, dads, aunts, uncles....Time to be the adults and make change happen.
