Motley Fool article on renewable production by state. A more interesting look is to sort it by energy produced. If you compare CA to TX, CA has a higher share (35% vs. 27%) but TX has a bigger impact (136.8K vs. 69.5K in thousand mw hours).

Indeed... I think utilities like renewables. Initial cost is higher but operating cost is lower and more predictable (no fuel cost to factor in). The main constraints are geography (we are not all TX, CA, AZ) and energy storage. They are just technology challenges to overcome.
