There will always be all sorts of condescending reading snobs - but I love to read because I started by reading books I loved (lots of fantasy and sci-fi at the time)! Later my reading experience allowed me to read whatever was called for.

I seriously dislike most "classic" books. The number of books I've read in my lifetime probably stretches close to 2000. My language skills, basic grammar, & spelling skills are excellent. My mom just wanted us to read. My sisters & I took that as a challenge & read the hell out of everything.
