American folk artist and quilter Harriet Powers was born enslaved in Georgia. Her quilts are considered among the finest examples of 19th century quilting. Her work is on display at the National Museum of American History in Washington, DC & the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA.

Thanks for introducing me to her work. Is that Jonah and the Whale middle left? I will google to interpret her work, but already saw that it's biblical panel. There's an American Museum near me in Bath, England with a textile room of American quilts from the 250 in their collection.
