My son is turning 18 soon and asked for a tattoo for his bday. Okay, no problem. I want to be there (at least for the first bit) and he wants no part of that. Not sure how I feel about that.

My daughter got one for her 18th. We had lots of gentle conversations about it leading up to the day. She showed her favorites. I shared mine. I never asked to go but was finally invited.
Honestly, I was grateful just to be told about it to begin with. At 18 she no longer needed my permission
