it seems like a whole lot of people don't understand that the literal point of gerrymandering is to create conditions under which voters cannot vote their way OUT of it.

It's designed to create safe seats for a political party at the expense of the voters.

That's what it's *designed* to do.

If you cannot vote your way out of the suppression/gerrymandering, is there an alternative to regaining power other than overthrowing the government by force?

1. Increase turnout.

2. Win in less gerrymandered parts of the country and change the laws.

3. Challenge it in court.

4. Mass protest/a general strike.

Violent revolution is the last resort- yet we've been taught by a culture which glorifies violence to always jump to it as the first one.
