So I've 'spouted' on my love of Pearl Jam on here, but the band that really started it all was R. E. M.
I'm a huge REM fan. Anyone else?

I first heard about R.E.M. when I subscribed to a magazine called Trouser Press. (Found out about many great bands through that mag.) I owned several of their albums, which I sadly don't own anymore. I was just singing "Losing My Religion" (in my mind) the other day.

I first heard the radio hits from Document.
But then I was able to go back and discover the older ones.
First year of college was when Green was released.

I went to check on the dates of REM albums. Yes, I owned their first album, "Murmur" in 1983! And then at least the next 6 albums after that. These were passed on to my brother. I don't know if he still owns them.

I bought Green and Eponymous in the fall of 88.
I've been collecting on vinyl after buying all the CDs.
I miss those guys.
Like they could just release an album every 6 years or so??
I miss their songwriting.
The later side projects are ok. But missing the magic. Special together.

I'm still looking through all the REM albums and songs and dates - so many memories. I even looked up Michael Stipe's age: only 63. I thought he'd be older.
Anyway, I'm gonna age myself by one more year by saying that I bought their first EP release in 1982, "Chronic Town" - I remember every song.
