For my first spout, here's a link to a blog post about all the insects I found inside a bag of Trader Joe's figs. Two species of wasps, lots of caterpillars, and a beetle. #nature #entomology #figs https://colinpurrington.co...

That's not surprising. As someone who tries to keep a fully stocked and rotated long term pantry, one of the first things I learned was to put my 50 lb bags of flour in the freezer for 2 days to kill bug larvae. All our food has bugs in it. Always have had.

So true. Do you find that two days is sufficient to kill them? I've heard three or more days is needed for some species. Probably depends on freezer temp.

I read it was best for 48-72 hours. I actually do it for 72 hours. Honesty, I've never kept anything long enough for bugs to pupate. I also use my deep freezer and put them in Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers.
