From a Substack newsletter by Ryan Burge: "The data is clear and unequivocal on this point - no one gets involved in the political process to the level of the average atheist."

This is interesting. Do Agnostics count? I’ve been involved with politics since I was a little kid. I learned how to read so I could discuss politics with my parents. I’ve been a Democrat all my life. My friends and family think I’m too involved in politics!

Agnostics are shown on one of the charts & mentioned in the article. I found this article encouraging, yet the pct of the populations aren't equal (yet!): 18% white evangelical, 6% atheist, 6% agnostic. That seems to be changing - probably more quickly than I would expect.

I can’t wait until there’s a Politician willing to run for President who is an Atheist or Agnostic. It probably won’t happen in my lifetime. I’m early Gen X. I hope there comes a day when nobody cares what religion a Politician happens to be! Religion DIVIDES people in my experience. ☮️

I don't know if it could ever happen that a President could be Atheist/Agnostic, or even anything other than Christian/Catholic. I wish, but definitely not in my lifetime (I'm a bit older than you). (Though, really, there are some that lie and say they're religious, but aren't. You know who! 😉)

I can’t help but feel awkward when I’m around religious people. I don’t want to be rude, or hurt their feelings, but I just can’t go along with the whole premise of a DEITY in the sky who punishes people. Plus every major religion doesn’t have women as being equal to men.
