Apologies for being a bit maudlin today. For those of you not having members of your family serve, during war time, it's hard to express how traumatic it can be. Dad was in Korea and then Vietnam twice. That awfulness was brought to us by television.

Mom and I never watched the news fearing we would see dad either wounded or dead. It's not an easy thing. We also feared getting that knock on our door with Army guys in full-dress uniforms. Thankfully dad made it home alive. He had nightmares for years afterwards.

I did not serve in Vietnam. I was in the last lottery and lucked into a high number.

Those were traumatic times. I 100% understand where you're coming from.
