True, that is the ideal but finding a walkable small town city centre that meets all your needs is fairly difficult. Only a small percentage of land is walkable even in the largest 35 metro areas in the US (article). I would love to see cities reform their zoning to allow more walkable neighborhoods

I am in Canada, and my city, Chatham-Kent (35,000) had been hollowed out, but is becoming more walkable.
