Not voting is the most powerful expression of privilege. You're saying that no matter who's in charge, your existence won't be threatened and you'll be insulated from the harm the GOP is actively seeking to do.

In reality, there are Black & Indigenous people whose lives & well-being are threatened daily regardless. GOP scary? Shrug. Though whites can be smug about not voting, other people are either being denied the right to vote or sick of the democrats ignoring their existence until election season.

Agreed! It’s also a shocking display of unabashed ignorance.

Are you kidding! I am voting straight Democrat to not only protect my own shapely Female Ass, But to protect the LGBTQ community as well as the World from the Transphobic Criminal Douche and his Transphobic Qpublicans.

I'm very clearly talking about the people who love to smugly preach about how they won't vote.

I don’t know if it’s a powerful expression of privilege, as must as it’s an expression of ignorance.

For years I was in this bubble! But I listened to Rage against the machine and U2! And I was enlightened listening to RUSH but I was so into my ART and Science I was still blind until I was on Disability and Section 8 and Trump got into office!

..not all can vote. There are folks in the US that have no voice. Legal resident aliens are a sizeable group. It's not that they won't, they can't.

There are far more people who can vote who just don’t.

One can infer from DJ’s post that he is talking about people who brag about and choose not to vote.

I think you need to add, "If you're white". Because not voting for some is because it is made impossible to do so (RE: Texas and Florida). The reality is if it takes less than 10 mins for one to vote, then maybe they should vote knowing that others can't.

I dug into my white male boss for not voting, claiming his vote didn't count and both parties are the same. First, he's a fuckin idiot. Second, I don't just vote for me. I vote for kids, the disabled, the undocumented, the repressed voter, and all those who died to give me the right.

Exactly. From the good ol gerrymandered state of Texas I know when I vote it's a futile exercise in civic duty and hope. Texas is actually a blue state, but gerrymandering fixed that. Oh well, Democracy 2024. Keep hope alive y'all!
