"Social media creates an almost entirely ego-centric culture, and everything about the culture just continues to feed it. In conversations with other people, we are likely to talk about ourselves 30-40% of the time, whereas when we’re using social media websites that number jumps to 80%."

I think this is normal to some extent? Without a visual to inform our opinions, or set a scene, we tend to overshare info to make a point?

It's food for thought. I realize I need to question my motivation for my social media activity. Am I trying to get my fix or genuinely being social?

I think it depends on how often you use SM in a regular day. Do you spend a couple of hours on it in the evening before bed? Then you're being sociable. Do you check your phone at regular intervals all day and night (like me) then it's about the fix. 🤷
