I usually stay out of the #foodwars because I pretty much like everything.

But if you are all talking pizza - I’m NYC - it’s my obligation to chime in.

Here’s what I say:

Ya all crazy. What you call pizza is actually a flatbread.
#PizzaToppingWar is a misnomer. #FlatbreadToppingWar

I have to agree. NOTHING compares to a good NY pizza. Not "New York style," actual NY Pizza. And it really doesn't matter what toppings are on it. Although, I'm not particular to pineapple. #PizzaToppingWar

That statement would’ve had more weight if you had said… “but if you’re talking pizza, I live in Italy and I’m Italian” 😏

The whole point is that pizza in NY is made by Italians. But I am happy to concede NY BBQ is lousy vs North Carolina. Our Mexican can’t hold a candle to California, Texas, and New Mexico. But pizza we know.

I had pizza for the past couple of days that had pulled pork on it and jalapeño peppers, it was pretty good

A person's definition of a real pizza is the pizza they grew up with.

For me, it is Chicago tavern thin. Toppings? Depends on my mood.

Did you get to eat at Escape From New York Pizza in Portland when you were in town? Created by a ex-New Yorker with experience making the real deal there, it's supposedly the most authentic NY pizza can get here. I'm just a yokel so I'll believe anything. I just know I really like it.

I did not. But it doesn’t surprise it is a New Yorker who owns it. It’s bred into us from birth. But even then to be like NY pizza it need our water. Just like bagels.

I will take pizza anyway I can, sans meat. Oh and toss some pineapple on there, please. :)

No! It’s a pizza homage! Not a pizza.

That is a long definition that includes science, immigration, old secret extra hot burning stove, soft water, I will try to give a better comprehensive answer soon. But I can ensure you:

NOT Ham and Pineapple. Might be a tasty flatbread… but it’s not pizza.
