If I could get a copy of mom's birth certificate (she was born in Windsor), I'd have a chance of successfully applying for Canadian permanent status.

But she won't give me one, & she thinks she's doing it out of love. For to her, Canada is a socialist hellhole.

Maybe I could contact the hospital.

I was born in Canada. My son was born in the US. Very soon after he was born, I applied for his certificate of Canadian citizenship. At least he has options.

Glad to hear it!

My dad received an exemption from the Vietnam draft in 1965 for having two small children (and did we ever get a thank you? 🙂), but he said that had he been drafted, he would've strongly considered going to Canada, and might have used his then-wife's connections to do it.
