As a former zero spouter, I gave myself permission to observe instead of participate visibly. I needed that space to overcome the fear of putting myself out there based on my experiences both on Twitter and before that on Facebook. So yes, I did a lot of lurking and liking before my first post.

Nothing wrong with that. I guess an analogy would be to swimming when you dip your toes in the water to make sure it's comfortable.

I think lurking got a bad rap when there were prominent accounts (blue check) that showed up and did nothing. As long as the intentions are authentic 👍

when I feel comfortable spouting off I do just that but a lot of the time I must confess I am a lurker as well.. what ever works for u is what's best!

Good for you! Keep doing what works for you. I don’t spout much, but I do echo and I comment a lot on the spouts of others.
