The strangest thing about the discourse surrounding Penn Badgley opting to not do sex scenes anymore is...Who cares? Literally. Who cares? It's OK for someone to say, "Hey, this makes my partner uncomfortable, so I'm not going to do it." 1/

I agree with you. It 100% shouldn't be "a thing".

The reason it IS a thing is because I doubt most women would have the same option - to just say "no thank you".

While I don't disagree with you about women not having the same opportunity, a lot of the discourse I'm seeing on the bird app isn't that. It's people very forcefully equating this to some puritanical reasoning and bending over backwards to explain why sex scenes are necessary in film and TV.

And I don't disagree that they can show healthy sexual relationships and intimacy between characters. But is that really the reason they're there? I don't think it's inherently bad that sex scenes exist...But I also can't remember one I've seen that left me thinking it was needed.
