My honest assessment of Spoutible. It is a good social media site, but I have noticed some bad behaviors from Twitter and Facebook that I need to address, and also my wish for features for the main site, and the app.

First off, I know people have to hard unlearn the bad habits of social media here. I know we're not perfect, and we're striving for halfway decent, but I want to remind y'all that you don't have to be on honey badger time all the time.

Secondly, please remember that ultimately there IS a living human on the other side of the screen. Targeted block parties, and just straight out harassment is in bad taste...and will cause people to leave, making us a lot worse than Twitter.

If you feel that you disagree with others, you have two options, scroll on by, or properly and civilly engage. Save being on honey badger time when somebody royally screws up, and not when they their worldview clashes with yours (with allowances of course).

Also keep in mind that we the users can make Spoutible a pleasant experience. I know there are some whom are scarred from Twitter from when he whom shalt not be named took control of it, and made it worse. However, we do want y'all to heal and have a good time here.

Now onto Spoutible itself, and the app. Of course, I will be using both since, I find it easier to thread on desktop, but can shoot off quickie responses, and spouts on mobile. Though, there will always be room for imporovements.

A lot of improvements will be from the back end to where the app/site will run smoothly. Remember, Twitter used to be down for literal hours with how popular it was.

That said, there are some suggestions, that I would wish for the app/website that are few. I know they're being worked on, but hear me out. The first would be a Spoutible version of spaces. I was tempted to do spaces on Twitter, but that ain't happening anytime soon.

A spaces feature would be phenomenal for all interests, including updates on the War in Ukraine, general politics, pop culture, etc. Even technical reports from @cbouzy from time to time.

Secondly, though I think this is hyper ambitious, and likely hyper expensive, is the ability to do live streams. Remember Twitter purchased Periscope and integrated it in with the site. I think that this kind of live streaming would again be a boon, and would open up a world of new content here.

However, in either case, it still would have to compart with the rules and regulations, and the prohibition of pornographic material here. Also keep in mind the DMCA is a thing, and @cbouzy and the team are required to take down anything with a notice.

However one of the biggest features, for the app, would be to directly take pictures from the app itself, instead of doing a two step on your device. It would make for the short video/pictures posting a lot faster, and easier.

Those are my general honest thoughts about Spoutible, and the site/app in general. I do realize we can control one part, our behavior. On the other side, we do have to be patient for features as they take time...and the team must make sure it doesn't break anything.

Unless something has changed, is there a way to delete notifications as we go, and then go back to where we left off? Right now, I read/respond to them, then have to scroll back through to the last one, and then delete all of them after, making it tedious when there are lots of them.

Good thread. I haven’t encountered too many people on here who have been nasty. It’s nothing like Twitter in that sense. I think it’s amazing it’s working as well as it is. Everyone has to have a bit of patience. I want civilized discourse with people. The last thing I want is to fight. ☮️💙🏳️‍🌈

Features don’t just take time they take Money this SM platform has been created with little money and a LOT of Determination by Christopher Bouzy and he’s now delivered #Spoutible App , as to people’s behaviour sometimes offence can be taken when it’s not intended.

The streaming would be fairly easy to be honest

Thank you for this. I know it's up to @cbouzy and the team to consider, but it isn't like even 13 years ago when Periscope was a thing, and was brought out by Twitter.
