NEW HURRICANE RECORD!!!

This is the first time since record keeping began in 1851 that we've had two named systems in June at the same time in the North Atlantic.

Most concerning is that we're in an El Nino year, when Atlantic hurricane activity tends to be diminished by shear.

As previously posted, this is a record for three TOTAL tropical depressions in June, and ALSO a record for two named at the same time in June in the North Atlantic.

I have also noticed little or no Saharan dust, which is typically present this time of year.

I don't think we've ever had ocean temps this high in June. I guess that compensates for the El Nino.
