I am so proud of our state!! This is what excellent leadership, great union workers, and collaboration across multiple entities can do!

Now, we'll see if the rest of the project (replacing the actual bridge) is done on "PennDOT time" or at a similar pace to building this temporary road.

I say this as someone suffering through the Rte 199 project which has now entered Year 3 (of a scheduled 4 years) of PennDOT's widening, replacing water, gas, and sewer lines, and repaving a 5-mile stretch of our primary north-south road through town.

I love that Shapiro was asked about the collapse of the road off 295 when he was explaining what they were constructing as the temporary road because this collapse has taken years to even begin to fix.

I am curious to see how they will remove the filler that is there now when they are done building the outside lanes without harming the new structures.

I saw a cool video that explained it! What they'll do is build the permanent bridge on the outside sections, re-route traffic over those, then demolish the retaining walls, remove the filler, and build the inside sections.
