Here's an easy way to self-check your biases.

Who you do publicly show appreciation for? How? When?

If you're constantly publicly appreciating your white peers but you're radio silence with everyone else, you need to fine-tune that bias.

And if you only appreciate your non-white peers one on one, you need to fine-tune that bias.

Because far too often white peers are seen as the next best thing because people are so quick to amplify their perceived success...

While the people who are actually laboring to make that success a success are overlooked.

Why does this matter? Because the squeaky wheel gets the promotion. They get the money. They get their "credibility" validated.

This is why some people would rather work on their personality than up-leveling their soft and hard skills.

People will often look at them and say they have executive presence. No, they have curated presence.
