Honest question that just occurred to me: say Trump wins the GOP nod, then has to bow out in the general due to [insert legal woe here]. What happens then? Would his VP pick take over the GOP ticket, or would Biden/Harris in effect run unopposed at that point?

Won't happen. He can run from jail. As long as he is a citizen born in this country, at least 35 years old, and lived in the United States for at least 14 years.

Believe it or not, constitutionally, those are the only three requirements to be POTUS.

Not sure about "born in this country." Wasn't Rafael Cruz born in Canada (to an American mother)?

Same thing came up when John. McCain ran for president because he was born in Panama Canal Zone (to American parents).
