I'm a little confused. Both on twttr & here now I've seen people very upset that porn is not allowed in a protected way for sex workers on the sites. I'm no prude but Idk that I would be interested in unexpectedly scrolling onto porn here. What am I missing?

I believe in consent for sexual imagery, so I agree that explicit images shd not be the default. But there should be a way to opt in for a noncensored timeline. Sex workers are marginalized and harassed on a daily basis, and we can help keep them safe by not perpetuating that marginalization here

I don't have any problem with that. I don't know if they're set up for it yet, but considering the prevalence of people in the job, the need will likely be addressed.

I don’t feel the policy is problematic because it isn’t preventing people who are sex workers from having accounts. It’s preventing posts that contain pornography. Also, I don’t believe it prevents spouts about sex work or the issues faced by sex workers.

I’m pretty sure people are allowed to talk about anything they want (sex, sex work, and kinks included). They just can’t post pictures or videos of themselves or others engaging in those things.

I agree, I don't want to see it, but I'm also not against it either though, maybe the sites could offer a "sensor" and you have to click on it to see it?

or offer an option to set your account to PG13 so you don't see it? I don't know. It doesn't bother me if sex workers or kinksters are here.

That's what I'd think, too. I mean finding clients isn't really a problem, & anything offered beyond that could be done in DMs. I really don't get her gripe.

I get what you're saying but how often have we really ever scrolled into porn on Twitter? Why can't we just setup something like NSFW accounts and have the user select if they want to see them?

This is a problem we can solve without excluding

I'd be okay with it if you have to opt in to seeing it without a filter (ergo, it's filtered by default) and it's 100% instant permaban for any poster breaking the rule and not flagging it correctly.

That's why I'm so surprised she/they were so mad. I know twttr allows a fair amount, as I've tripped over it once or twice. But only that few, so clearly it is something that doesn't get spread in the regular feed. I'm just at a loss as to why she was so mad.
