I have never noticed the yellow on the wings on Northern Flickers before. Glad this handsome fella was still long enough for me to get a picture. #WisconsinBirds

I've seen lots of flickers, but I've only seen the yellow wing feathers in the Peterson's guide. I mostly see them precariously clinging to our suet feeders, tapping suet and seeds out while the feeder swings wildly. They don't open their wingspans at that point.
