I'm seeing so much about movie theaters not coming back, and a lot talking about how people are sick of superhero movies. So, first of all, of the hundreds of movies released so far in 2023...Five have been superhero movies. Five. Out of hundreds.

Are they the most advertised? Sure! They're blockbuster films. They're advertised into the ground...But to pretend that an inundation of superhero movies is why people aren't going to the theater is extremely lazy and disingenuous.

The most likely reason? Why in the hell would I pay $15-18 per ticket, plus any concessions I might want to get, when I can wait six months, and rend it on Vudu, or Amazon for $15? To pretend that a lack of innovation and storytelling is why people aren't going to the theater ignores the real issue.

Going to the movie theater is just too damn expensive. It's no longer something you can just do on a whim. It just isn't. And until that changes, people won't be going back in droves anytime soon.
