I've caught people plagiarizing when doing peer review, but I have no idea if I'd be good enough to catch "good" faked research if it wasn't in my exact area.

The back of my mind is thinking about how the publish-or-perish paradigm/status quo harms plenty of folks, especially BBIMP women and related marginalized intersections.
