Evolving Celtic hexcrawl idea: the Shrouded Isles. Including Ui Breasail, Lochlann, and Emain Ablach, lots of lost lands and phantoms islands in Celtic folklore. On the edge of the Otherworld and the mortal realm, so full of supernatural/fantastic elements.

I'd been wondering how to fit this into my alternative history Celtic Middle Ages, I think the solution could be allowing visiting the "mainland" but time there is limited and jumps forward months or years everytime you visit.

So if you sail to Eire or Gaul you have maybe 2d6 days before mists sweep you back to the Isles. You may encounter a farmer and baby, and the next time you come back encounter their grown child running the farm, or the farm has been burnt down by invaders.
