one good tern

As twitter falls, I say to myself "now I know what it feels like to be a refugee" and I simultaneously realise that I lead a life of such insane privilege and entitlement.

No, having to leave a social media platform is not like having to leave your homeland. What a total dick thought.

I once had to evacuate my office due to a fire in a nearby building & had the same thought - & the same reaction.
But if that *tiny* slice of exile gives us empathy for those experiencing the real thing, it's not entirely bad?

It's good that it caused reflection. Quite understandable. My parents were refugees and my three sisters were born on refugee camps. When I mention it to people, most of them don't seem to fathom what it means.

Ah - found you!
It’d be nice to find more Covid-informed refugees.

In an entirely superficial, but emotionally important way, I do feel like a migrant, listening for the sound of my native tongue… somewhere.
