This hunter vs gather always seemed odd to me, because the two roles complimented one another in human ancestral development. Anthropologists suggest there was not sexual discrimination until agricultural societies developed an excess in resources.

Interesting point to teach students, gender roles. Before, everyone was part of food acquisition. Once the food was mostly growing outside, that changed. You had a house you had to fill with stuff you made, food to cook, kids to look after, etc. Men got the new specialized jobs; women stayed home.
