It's also bad news for orthodontists. (Yup! Braces.)
Also makes me 🤔 about those 🦷 falling out of their sockets. May not necessarily be gum disease but it could be because of bone destruction due to ⬆️osteoclastic activity. So, yes. Keep that smile by keeping that 😷. Covid's not mild.

Remodeling though needs a good balance of activity of two cells --osteoblasts ("bone builders") and Osteoclasts ("bone destroyers").
This study shows an increased activity of osteoclasts, which doesn't bode well for prostheses like implants, and even dentures, since these greatly rely on bone.

It's what gives your face its shape, which is what orthodontists greatly consider when making their treatment plan actually.
What is unknown to many is that the jaws undergo constant remodeling because of biting forces.

They may serve as biomarkers in the future that can help in identifying diseases for more accurate diagnosis....

Caused by bacteria normally found in the environment. Clinical manifestations of this degree usually happen in IMMUNOCOMPROMISED patients.

These are some of the viruses that are being tested so that these may be used for cancer treatment. Hoping that Covid, given that it can exhibit persistence or latency, does not "interact" with these viruses so we don't end up losing another possible tool in our fight against CA.

It's been noted too in the study that 4 genetic mutations have been seen in these types of cancers.
DDX3X's been noted as one of the more commonly mutated genes in hosts that allow viruses to promote cancer formation. It happens when a virus causes the mutation of DDX3X which leads to its inactivi

cancers caused by viruses are more seen in men than women. Although getting infected by an oncovirus is quite common, it's been good to note that not all who acquire infection from an oncovirus will develop some form of cancer.
