Six _very_ near misses, ranging from disco to AC to southern boogie.

Here are a couple of recordings I made at my radio station this past weekend, created in memory of my father who passed away on this date ten years ago. If early R 'n R is your thing, you may like them.

A post about a chart on my sister's birthday that includes a write-up of "My Sister." Coincidence? You decide.

Which 10 acts with 3 or more Top 40 hits had their final AT40 appearance come the closest to the end of 1979?

A new occasional series, in which fellow music blogger Mark and I do battle over Top 40 charts of the long-ago past.

A hit record in the UK that did virtually nothing in the States. Appreciation today for an underappreciated disk.

Two college juniors share thoughts about hits of '84, what Night Tracks is playing, and a movie they both very much want to see. Confluences abound, as a decades-old mystery was solved just last week.

Today's list of non-Top 40 hits includes songs from Waylon, Seger, and 4 acts you might not know but should perhaps check out (though if you grew up in the 70s, you've heard the voice of one of them a gazillion times). https://musicofmylife.net/...

Visiting friends in the DC area and saw Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit last night. Great, great show--the band is tight and he's such a sympathetic songwriter. I'll be listening to their latest album a bunch soon.

I can't overstate how much The Lion and the Cobra moved me when it came out. Here's a piece I wrote 5+ years about it. RIP to its creator, a beautiful, tortured soul. https://musicofmylife.net/...
