If I've learned one thing from living in the #Canada for so long, it's that people love the Canada. Except Pierre Poilievre, who really hates hates hates the Canada.

I agree, I just think it doesn't need to stop there. My friends/associates are likely to have the same general worldview as me. People I meet online often have a different viewpoint. When we engage, both of us benefit. I don't necessarily want to convert someone, but I would like to *engage* them.

I refuse to believe that it's simply an exercise in futility to make an effort. The only way to *not* make a difference is by not trying to.

I think that's great. Now, I'm Canadian, and therefore can't really get involved in your vote in any meaningful way. But, for whatever it's worth, I will continue to denounce Trump until my lungs burst from the effort.

As rage-inducing as that is (and believe me, I'm shaking my fist at an uncaring sky) I believe - from experience - that people will open their minds to new ideas if you don't pressure them to, but simply engage with them.. I'd go into more detail, but I'm running out of spoutible words...

That's written language for you. It's hard to convey intention, inflection or motivation in a few short words. The best any of us can hope for is that our *intent* comes across somehow.

Not only do I agree with you, I think I should do more to be locally active. I will take your advice to heart.

Patsy, I thank you for the vote of encouragement, but I'm unfit to lead anything. I just want to see "us" - that is you, I. everyone else here - do more than complain to each other. We have the numbers - collectively we could make some changes.

I don't think you're wrong in the least. I think that what I'm more concerned with is 1: Are any of us making a difference, and 2. If not, how do we change things for the better? There are so many people here who genuinely want to make a better world - so why aren't we?

You're absolutely right that *any* platform is only as good as the people using it. My concern - that I may not be able to articulate as well as I would like - is that we're all just spinning our wheels here. Chances are, you and I are going to agree 95% of the time, but convince 0% of anyone else.

I agree, and I disagree - if that makes any sense at all. I think you can change people's minds - or at least open them up to new avenues - by engaging with them in a respectful manner, Spoutible, in my opinion, seems like a walled garden where like-minded people reinforce each other's viewpoints.

What do think about Mastodon? Will there be a way to integrate Spoutible w/ the Fediverse in the future?
