Last night I read an article about Shane MacGowan, only to wake up and learn he had died. I am not pleased to have just gotten a book out of storage, opened it, and found this.

#GOPdebate I guess Trnmp needs to win this election so he has a place to live for the next four years.
Won't be in that tacky repossessed apartment in NY.

Ronald Reagan sold weapons to Iran, gave amnesty to millions of undocumented ppl, fought for gun control and raised taxes 11 times.

So it's fitting the #GOPDebate was at his library, with all 7 Reagan-worshiping candidates clearly suffering from memory loss.

My various feeds have lots of posts about the tenth anniversary of Lou Reed’s death. Here’s a pic of the one time I saw him, in 2009.

Dream: I received in the mail, unsolicited, an adult human being in suspended animation. I forgot to keep the shipping container, so when I went to return it I was told I had to mail it back in a coffin & declare it to the Post Office as human remains. I kept putting it off; who can deal with that?!

Dream: Staying in a NYC hotel, the manager decided to use my room as a case study to train 6 new assistant managers, one of whom tried to incriminate me for a couch stain obviously caused long before I checked in. Meanwhile, I knew I had to somehow drive straight to New Orleans in the morning.

Another skip day for Peanuts. It wouldn't have its first Sunday strip until January 1952.

As of Oct. 22, 1950, the strip was 20 days old and the cast remained small. Only 4 characters had been seen so far and only one had been named: Charlie Brown. Patty, Shermy and Snoopy rounded out the cast.

I thought it was superb. The precise placement of music to match scenes was masterful. The peak of the entire sessions, or at what I call the most sublime moment of those two albums, occurs at the zenith of the film. Sheer perfection. I want to do it again.

This might be the best #Shoegaze song you've never heard, Deerhunter have been around a long time but are still far from being a household name. The outro has an ingenious 5 bar chord cycle that gradually builds in intensity.

I got only the most oblique photos of Slowdive last night, which is kind of appropriate. I wish you could see Rachel Goswell’s fascinator more clearly. Also, they’re a rare band that is better after a 20+ year hiatus than they were when they strong the first time around. I last saw them in 1992.
