I helped my cousin clean out her house she inherited from Gparents. They meticulously kept all the utility reciepts dating all the way back to 1911. They had photos from that time period and things from their son who was killed in WWI. A manual curling iron that you heated in the fireplace, lol, etc

What ever is transpiring they can't hide her forever. The public's interest is not going to just go away.

It would seem a big "tell" is her parents. They are her advocate. If something were seriously and abusively amiss, it's hard to imagine they would stay silent. But they've not said anything.

😂 Do you remember when your neighbor would take the phone off the hook so you couldn't use it, so that it would be available when she wanted to gossip for 3 hours. Lol 🤣 those were not the days!!

It's learning capabilities seem to be in the remedial stage but it's probably just me. I don't interact a lot and what I do post are all over the page. But I really like the tag designation "curated" 💖

And I just realized I haven't even learned the language ... spout not post ... lol my apologies!

Well different people have different life values ... he didn't care that he was found but was very uninterested ... it might have given her closure but didn't help her bitterness/loss

Lol, true DNA experts and pricey .. the old fashioned way is tracing DNA family matches on a site like ancestry .. it's time consuming, requires patience and dedication .. all matches will trace back to some tree in common .. eventually there is a common denominator .. tree A & B will be the parents

Those census records give you the clues to the previous generation, they lived and moved together, you find one, you generally find the entire family and the necessary clues of where to go.

When it comes to genealogy records research, your not bookending information birth to birth, people live 70 to 90 years and multiple generations' lives overlap.

Before the modern day, people didn't go to nursing homes they lived with their families and their lives overlapped on the census records

Me too for decades ... and anybody can learn to do it, if you are good at research, detail, and are disciplined it's like putting a jigsaw puzzel together ... that's why in imho I don't feel certification or professional is necessary, it just takes practice.

I love it ... have been doing it for decades ... family, friends, workmates, enemies lol ... all I need is your name and city to get the whole picture ... and I believe in free ... the records are government of our personal info ... I predominantly use FamilySearch and post all research to Wikitree.

... all that being said, in genealogy terms and DNA tracking terms, 150 years is nothing, it's 2 generations, maybe 3 ... it's just a matter of grouping people and then a process of elimination... can you tell I love genealogy ... Ok, lol, how did I do on my very first spout??

However, classes are helpful for researching DNA genealogy ... I've taught myself that as well and have breached 4 brick walls with only a few more to go ... & helped my sister-n-law uncover her unknown father/one night stand ...

I'm trying to thread but obviously don't know what I'm doing ... so if this is hacked up, I'm sorry ... professionsal or amateur is largely a matter of personal prospective ... I'm self taught, so for those who went to classes with certifications they would probably put me in the amatuer catagory ..
