No he did not. He set into motion a process that will take months to decide whether the HEA can be used to dismiss loan debt. But in two months, payments with interest restart. I want him to use HEA to say fuck it and dismiss the debt now. Unless he has a change of heart, that's not his plan.

Good thing Biden never wanted to make low income people "pay" for loans that have already been discharged and can't be paid back anyway b/c those students like me still can't afford to pay them back despite working full-time for 10 years.

Oh, I know about this plan. The issue is that they're going to hold hearings that will give conservatives months to mount legal challenges, just like what they did with HEROES. Just use your executive power now. The SC doesn't care about precedent, they do what they want. So why not do the same?

If he's the candidate (and I see no reason why he wouldn't be), I'll vote for him. But I must say that he's not fighting fire with fire at times where he should. For instance, student loans. He should waive them under the HEA and dare SCOTUS to strike it down.

Everyone talked about the guardrails of democracy holding up in the last midterms, and maybe that's true. But I just fear that some terrible shoe is gonna drop in 2024. It feels like it's all building to something worse than all of this, and that's hard to imagine right now.

I know, I know, it was probably more complicated than I characterize it all to be and hindsight being 20/20 blah blah blah. But I'm pissed. And I know I'm not the only one. I'm voting out of necessity because the country I love is dying quickly. 9/

But you didn't. You waited too long, and then Ted Kennedy died, and the bottom fell out. RBG didn't retire when Obama was President. So after McConnell stole Scalia's vacant seat, she died and her seat went to that vile schoolmarm Barrett. 8/

And that's not even acknowledging 2009 when you had the House, a filibuster-proof Senate, and the Supreme Court on top of the White House. You had EVERYTHING right there in your hands. Could've codified Roe v. Wade. Could have codified affirmative action. You could have done it all!!! 7/

And then you lost the House because you didn't aggressively attack gerrymandering head-on. I don't care if you had to pay Sinema and Manchin off to do so, but SOMETHING needed to be done and yet, as always, you did NOTHING. 6/

For years, this continues to be the Democrats' response to any conservative obstruction. "Sorry, but we just can't." I don't want apologies, I WANT ACTION! We voted for you to DO THINGS and when you had a majority, TWO SENATORS ruined your whole plan of governing!!!! 5/

Never mind that the Higher Education Act gives the Department of Education the right to discharge loan debt as they see fit. Never mind that they have the information from our applications in their hands RIGHT NOW to do so. No, they won't do it because the illiberal Court says so. 4/

And now, thanks to the Court, I'm going to start paying back 4 predatory loans at 6/8% interest that will likely prevent my savings up for the foreseeable future. And what's the President's response? "Sorry, but we can't help right now." 3/

Then, in a move that personally screwed me and millions of others over, they killed Joe Biden's student loan forgiveness plan, a plan that would have left me with only $5,000 of debt left to pay off. Thanks to years of forbearance, I have actual savings now. I have financial security... 2/

So what's the solution? All you seemingly want to do is rail against two popular politicians who have a following. That's fine. I'm interested in solutions no matter what. As someone facing lengthy and costly debt repayment, that's my focus.

So she's just supposed to pass a magical bill that somehow gains support from enough R's that somehow makes it to the Senate and then survive a filibuster there? How does that happen now, in reality? And wouldn't it therefore be quicker and faster for Biden to try using HEA to get debt relief now?

I know she's not in the Senate but stop pretending that Manchin or Sinema were ever going to let a hypothetical bill from the House survive and pass. For someone cosigning a spout saying to deal with reality, you're sure conveniently ignoring that particular reality.

Oh idk, Manchin, Sinema and the filibuster in the Senate. Also, you know, Biden assuring us that his executive action was going to be ruled legal. Almost like she listened to the President? That's not her fault.

Are they lying? There's precedent to ignore SCOTUS rulings. It's not ideal but considering the court is illegitimate at this moment, why not? Use the HEA. Do all you can. If they write bills, they won't get passed in the radical House. Or make it past Sinema/Manchin.

If she can't pass the bill through a split Congress, then the President should try using the HEA and go through with forgiveness again. Why is that wrong of her to ask for? She doesn't have executice authority. He does. Why be mad at her?
