Hi Amanda... I don't think this has been easy with any of the communities. I've been inviting friends and talking about Spoutible... but I think it just takes time. At least it isn't invite-only. 🙂

I liked Twitter too... for a little over 15 years. I was one of those, "let's hang on to try and save the place," people and I just don't think it's worth the time. I'd rather spend it here helping Spoutible grow.

Wonderful helpers! I have maybe one more sweep of the handful of bushes we have, but was able to harvest (and eat) several quarts. I think I'll plant more bushes in the spring.

I haven't downloaded the app yet and will do that today. Threads is difficult to use with no desktop version and Bluesky does janky things – resizes automatically to uncomfortable proportions and you have to close out to reset the size.

The energy and engagement on Bluesky have tanked in the past few weeks. I check maybe once a day now.
There's only so much "show me your tits" juvenile shit-posting I can take. I'm no prude, but there is no balance. Most folks I know are waiting for the early phase to end to see if it gets better.

They keep claiming that marginalized communities don't get bullied, but it's a closed, unmoderated community. How long will that last after it opens up without moderation?

Hi Meg... I'm on Bluesky and spend more time here. Right now, Bluesky has died down in a big way and my feed has more posts from the people who work at Bluesky than people I follow.

It's still around as far as I know and it was fun. From what I recall, the only controversy I remember from the early days was around the fact that the founders only amplified the accounts of a select few people.

I think it will also remain like this because of the type of people who are attracted to Spoutible. (Not that you aren't doing a fab job!)

I'll reserve judgment until after my friends arrive, but Bluesky has all the drama of a middle school dance.
I think Spoutible is my Twitter alternative. I'll have to wait and see if Bsky fills any other type of social media void. Right now, it's giving off the same vibes as the early days on Ello.

I'll give Spoutible a chance with my posts about freelancing and marketing for a couple of weeks and see how they are received.

I agree. I've been on Bluesky for just two days and right now, it isn't a serious place. It's mostly devs and while I'm getting a lot of follows without trying, I'm getting zero engagement.
I can see using Bluesky for a place to shoot the sh*t, but as it is now, I don't feel like I fit in.
