A number of Black voices pushing the "punish the Dems by not voting" agenda are people with the financial ability to leave the USA if things go bad, or remain unaffected because of their wealth. The rest of us aren't in that position: we're in the line of fire.

2024 is a critical election year & a defining moment in US political history. The winning party will likely hold power for years. You decide which regime you'd prefer that you and your loved ones live under, b/c that's what this is -- choosing between a democracy or theocratic-autocracy.

Because when there's a larger crisis -- like a candidate/party clearly wanting to erode civil rights -- you pick the better option even if it's not the best. You at least pick the one that's able to make beneficial changes if they're in the majority. But I hear you; it's frustrating.

Remember how some were against MLK Day because it was a Black man's name? Same vibe with the George Floyd Act. The minimum wage issue is disgusting, but that's a fight every president seems to lose. There's too many pols getting money from big business & capitalism is fine was near-slave labor.

I'll ignore your other spout; I think you were in a different mindframe. IMHO even liberal pols are reluctant to sign onto legislation that benefits certain groups, but I'll give Biden credit for the effort. Black-focused legislation is hard with a "normal" GOP; near impossible with the MAGA GOP.

You wrote that you voted for Biden. What were you hoping he would do, when you voted, that he hasn't done? Not suggesting he's checked all boxes, or that youre being unfair. I truly want to know your specific concerns to get a better understanding of your frustrations. Thx.

What’s sadder is that he had 59% of the popular vote, and 59% equals that many electoral college votes. While the majority voted for him, there were 41% that didn’t. The electoral college system creates lopsided outcomes.

I thought about self-expulsion but allowing him to.leave w/ sensitive govt info in his head, wouldn't be wise. Also, it allows him to continue his divisive work from a country that will platform his behavior. Any country would have to weigh the value of hosting an uncontrollable narcissist.

Still needs to log a flight plan & identify passengers. It's unlikely that Trump will sneak anywhere because his narcissistic personality disorder feeds on attention. Someone's tracking his plane. He could borrow a friend's but I doubt he has a rich friend who'll risk prison to help him.

Two thoughts: 1. The State Dept has already flagged his passport with a “don’t board” so there’s no reason to take it. 2. Trump hasn’t left the USA since 2020 even for a vacation, so he seems uninterested in self-expulsion.

I’m not suggesting she retire immediately. I’m saying she should announce so others can start actively campaigning now w/o being seen as slighting or disrespecting her. A graceful exit at the end of her term.

Dems, in respect of her legacy, prefer DiFi retire gracefully rather than being challenged for her seat by other Dems. Retirement’s a less shameful option & she’s got health issues. Mitch will likely be replaced by a younger, more rabid Rep., so better to keep him than the alternative.

Bring the right kind of gun. If you mimic debasement, you’ve lost the moral and civil argument. You’re not going to convince those committed to low conscientious behavior,, they can’t be saved. You’re appealing to the ones that are on the fence and still have a reasonable sense of civility.

I love your energy, Simon. The battle is less political and more about low conscientiousness vs high conscientiousness. Both parties have lows; and the GOP is swarmed with them, but the Dems have RFK, Jr, Sinema, Manchin. A low conscientious person is a problem regardless of political leanings.

We only have one side of the story, but I’m hesitant to applaud because this could be a “two wrongs don’t make a right,” situation. Copying bad behavior isn’t a healthy flex, because when does the tit for tat and end and sensible decision-making begin?

I’m more bothered that someone, who is saying it from a place of concern and care, MUST say this at all. And it’s only because religious people feel they have a right to kill you because of your sexual identity . WTF.

But that won't allow for the subtle racist under-message while delivering a performative message of alliance. "I support the Blacks and Black slaves" so allows one to look good while dehumanizing.

Yes, this is sarcasm, should anyone still be unsure. Thanks for your post @fruitfacedfruitkace .
