Oh, and while we're at it, happy belated 50th birthday to the band's debut single, Keep Yourself Alive, which entered its sixth decade last week.

Thanks for all the memories. You're still Doin' Alright in my book. 😎

Keep telling myself I've got three chances to see BOB VYLAN in August & November already. But even a support slot would be epic right now.

With you in spirit gents but sadly not in body while I recover! Enjoy mah city and see ya soon... xx

Fwiw... It starts on my third birthday, so the first installment covers November & December 1987. The second covers January & February 1988, and so on, all the way up to September & October 2002.

I turned 18 in November 2002, so from then on it's monthly.

Managed to find a couch. But almost every interactive space has seats without backs, or raised bar stools.

Really need event organisers to think more about accessibility when they arrange these things. Benches just aren't supportive of back issues & there aren't enough chairs.

As much as we all despise Twitter now, people seem very reticent to move elsewhere. So maybe something that's tied up with Instagram/Facebook is the answer after all.

Time will tell.

I know being able to access it in the first place will be helpful. I've been on the "waitlist" for BlueSky since February/March and nobody's letting me in.

Spoutible, Counter Social, Tribel are all useful alternatives but few people are moving to them.

Facebook as a platform has been broken for some time. There's huge problems with profile design, photo uploads, timelines not showing you updates from accounts you want to see, etc. etc.

Maybe starting again is the answer?

When they're done with the trans people, it'll be the bisexuals. Then the gays. Then the lesbians. They won't stop until we're all in the gas chambers. If you're standing with millionare bigots. If you still think what they're doing is harmless. You are signing death warrants.

The emphasis some people want to put on anti LGBT+ violence is that this is firmly on the T, but make no mistake: that's a smokescreen and EVERYONE supporting the anti-trans nonsense right now is just making it easier for them to attack everybody across the LGBTQAI+ community.

But I'm especially delighted to know that ten years on, Matt is hugely respected as an incredible musician, too, because I think if he had to choose one or the other, it'd always be the latter.

Happy anniversary, fella. Big love to you, always.

It's none of my business how Toyah now choses to identify. But that deep rooted sense of being 'other' is probably what drew me to her as a child, and stuck with me ever since.

There's nobody quite like Toyah. Absolutely ahead of her time.

Ps. I know that in recent years Toyah has started referring to "Ladies and gentlemen and all those smart enough to be neither" or words to that effect in her live shows.

As a long term non-binary fan of hers, it means *THE WORLD* to be seen by someone you admire.

PS. I was 2 years, 7 months, 20 days old when this was broadcast. I'd eventually get the single later that year - a cheap ex-jukebox copy. Later on I'd replace it with one in a proper sleeve, and pick up the 12" too.

But more on my early adoption of vinyl in another instalment...

From my 18th birthday onward, these playlists become monthly. 20 songs every single month of my adult life.

For perspective, the latest entry #38 .05 - March 2023, brought the total number of songs included to 6,700.

No, I won't be sharing ALL of them here!

PS. Some additional background here. My full Audio Diary is a manic idea I came up with, which traces my journey through music from my 3rd birthday in 1987 to the present day.

1987-2002 (my childhood) are represented by bi-monthly playlists of 20 songs. Eg. Nov-Dec 87, Jan-Feb 88 and so on.

Frustratingly, I think they have very little say anymore. They sold the catalogue to Warner Music, so the label can basically shunt Bowie wherever they like. It's why there's been a glut of terrible commercials with his songs on them.

And finally SERIES THIRTEEN [2021] was a 6-part series of interlocking adventures known as FLUX. May as well dive into the whole lot.

There's a few additional specials afterwards to bring you up to date, too!

Enjoy the deep dive!
